Civ Vs Age Of Empires
Age of Empires III & Civilization V - Livestream! This video but i found it really hard and then wanted to move. Age of Empires III. Immerse yourself in the award-winning strategy experience. Microsoft Studios brings you three epic Age of Empires III games in one monumental collection for the first time.
Hi,So me and my two friends love playing Age Of Empires II, this was one of the old games that we started playing again. We loved teaming up together and trying to #rekt hard bots, or play 1 vs 1 vs 1 and stuff like that.We have played this game for a while though (out of steam, hence why I don't have much hours here) and the game is getting a little. We just found pretty much all the strategies and it just played out most of the time as: Do X, build Y, Quickly do Z and T at the same time, etc.I bought Civilization 5 and watched a ton of streamers and I thought that this could be the next best thing. We tried AoE III, but we didn't really get the feel like in AoE II.I want to convince them to buy it on steam in some sort of promotion. They are usually skeptical about buying games (especially a bit pricey ones as Civ 5), but I think that if they'd give it a chance they would love it.Before I try to convince them I want to know if anyone has experience in this sort of thing? As in, what can I tell to a good AoE II player about Civ 5 that will convince them?P.S. Im kind of new to steam forums, but I couldnt find any Civilization 5 steam forums, so I thought this would be good enough.
I have almost 3000 hours of gameplay in Civ V. The only mod I used was a GUI mod and even that was only installed in my last few weeks of play.I also have around half that time in AoE II HD, with many more hours of play prior to using Steam.Whilst I can't guarantee that every player of AoE would love Civ V, they both offer fantastic gameplay for the single player and the multi player.During sales the whole package of Civ V with all its DLC can become very cheap, and it is a very worthy addition to anyones library. Many games with Achievements are very much 'bean counter' type things. You basically have to do repeat actions for a long time to score them. In Civ V the authors have been very creative.
Many of the Achievements are only scored through using particular tactics. This forces the player to try new methods.

So over a couple of years I learned many new ways to win and found almost every avhievement a good challenge. Only one problem is that you can't score 100% unless you had bought the game and scored a particular achievemewnt that has since been withdrawn. Sadly Firaxis and Steam have let us down very badly on this.Despite that one issue I do strongly recommend the game to anyone who loves to stretch their brains yet also loves to relax and just play a simple game at times. You can score many achievements just by playing as a particular King or Queen etc.Once you have played through the scenarios and campaigns of AoE you can only score many of teh achievements by playing repeated games or cheating. But that is still fun.:) I am steadily working my way through those many 'bean counter' games atm. With Civ V I found that each DLC radically changed the game in ways that really added to the richness of playing.
In AoE apart from increased use of triggers the game really stayed pretty much the same.Despite my love of AoE I actually prefer Civ V and know I can easily set up a unique game where each of my enemies has character traits that change the game. Eg Alexander really does try to take over the world fast.
Also famously Ghandi is very happy to start a Nuclear War.In AoE the leaders do get some unique features but they lack their personal touch of the Civ Leaders.EDIT: typos. Civ 5 is an extremely addicting game and I can definetly recommend it, It's definetly worth the price BUT you need the Brave New World expansion, the vanilla game is a bit barebones. Other DLCs even though they add new content are just 'fluf' when it comes down to it (the new stuff that is added with Gods and Kings automatically comes with BNW, you only need GaK for the extra civs). It also runs way more stable then AOE2 HD in multiplayer (most of the time at least and it ain't that hard to top HD in terms of preformance.), Unlike AOE It's turnbased, wich you like or dislike depending on your tastes, but it's a lot easier to just to save a multiplayer game when you need to stop and pick it up later again. The game has amazing replayabilty with the different victory conditions, randomly generated maps and multiple civs. And if you get bored from the basegame theres a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of content you can get from the workshop to mod the game and make it more enjoyable.
