Retexture for Gauss Rifle and YCS/186 - posted in New Vegas Mod Requests: I use both EVE and Millenia's weapon retextures and they are spectacular. I usually play as an energy weapons character and I find that the two must-have energy weapons are Pew-Pew and the Gauss Rifle (preferably the YCS/186). EVE covers almost everything.

The following section is from. To modify, please. The Gauss rifle is a coilgun, a type of projectile accelerator, which uses electromagnetic coils configured as a linear motor to accelerate ferromagnetic or conductive projectiles to extreme velocities. Though these weapons were historically suffering from a number of difficulties, focused on discharging the coils in sequence or providing enough power for the coils, these design issues were overcome by German scientists in the 21st century and entered limited service. This class of weapons is named in honor of the mathematician, responsible for formulating the math underlying the magnetic acceleration principle of coilguns. This rifle is a variation on the German design and was originally deployed in the.

Unlike the original weapon, it features a scope and eleven coilgun stages, resulting in a more versatile range and higher damage output. The weapon is larger and bulkier to accommodate the increased stress put on the weapon and uses a different feed system. While the standard magazines incorporate both slugs and ammunition, the Chinese Gauss rifle has to be loaded with ferromagnetic slugs separately, with loaded into the battery well in front of the trigger group.

The cell is used to power the magnetic accelerator and fire the slug and has to be replaced after each shot. The immense recoil generated by the weapon is mitigated somewhat by a long muzzle brake and a padded leather recoil pad. The bulk of the weapon also helps make it more manageable. However, the pay off is more than generous, as the sheer kinetic energy of the projectile creates a shockwave on impact, dealing additional damage to the target and potentially knocking them off balance.Characteristics Virtually identical to the of the, the New Vegas variant can still knock down enemies and is effectively an energy sniper weapon. However, it uses 5 per shot, rather than one.It is a rare weapon and is very expensive to repair without.

However, unlike its tier equivalent, the, it's much more accessible. It only requires 5 to use (as opposed to 8 for the AMR), double the critical chance (76%, while the AMR only offers 38%), not to mention the fact that its lighter than the AMR and its ammunition is more common. In mode, the weapons are more closely matched in terms of weight, as the five MFCs required for each firing of a Gauss rifle are together twice the weight of one round. The fact that the rifle has to be reloaded after each shot is also a factor, as this adds 10 AP to the firing cost in VATS.Variants.: Unique variant, deals 16% more damage, uses only four cells per shot, and cannot be obtained with the (as it is replaced by an ).

Dead Money Elijah's Gauss rifle: Non-playable rifles used by in combat. shows the use of a Gauss rifle; the Anchorage Reclamation simulation is also 'without any shadow of a doubt, divorced from reality.' , therefore use of the Gauss rifle by the American military is dubious.: ' 'The gun energizes and magnetizes a standard projectile round; those are already pre-loaded into the weapon, and are in that giant clip attached to the side of the weapon. The player loads in the Micro Fusion Cells needed to energize/magnetize each round. We did it this way because we knew we wanted to have an Energy Weapon equivalent of the sniper rifle.'

I chose wild wasteland - If I was to remove wild wasteland once I get to the auto-doc then go to get the YCS/168 without ever picking up the alien blaster would a mercanary spawn with the YCS/168?Is it significantly better than a standard gauss rifle anyways? 20 base damage increase, 10 increased critical damage, take 4 ammo instead of 5.Just reflex for me to pick wild wasteland as one of my traits didn't think I would ever regret it. I mean there is some pretty amazing references if you pick WW. See, when I got Wild Wasteland, I didn't know I was going to miss out on a unique Guass Rifle (my favorite kind of rifle btw), so what I did is just, when I found this place naturally, I got the alien blaster and just used console commands to get the YCS/186. I've never used the Alien Blaster, and just have it sitting in my house, but the YCS I am now using in place of my Anti-Material Rifle (the anti-mat I gave to Boone, who is a friggen badass:D).So just console command it, the YCS is, in my opinion, better than the Alien Blaster.Someone should make a mod where choosing wild wasteland creates an alternate place to get the YCS, and not taking it gives an alternate place to get the Alien Blaster, just as long as they are still difficult to get. Originally posted by:The Alien Blaster is quite good. But you`re never, ever going to find more ammo for it anywhere so it falls firmly under the category of 'awesome but useless' for me.The YCS is very, very nice as a long range weapon for a character that prefers energy weapons.However.

There are a ton of good weapons in the game and the YCS isn't.that. much better.OP, if you enjoy WW, then keep it and don't worry about the YCS. For my money, even though I like the serios tone, WW is worth far more than any single weapon in the game - for at least one playthrough. The gauss rifle is a fun gun. Its like the antimaterial rifle, except it actually works.the anti material rifle misses alot or something I dunno the gauss rifle hits where its aiming and has an impact on the target and most importantly an amusing ragdoll effect. To compare the gauss to the holorifle is absurd. The holorifle doesn't make things go flying off doing backflips, it just turns them into piles of ash.I used a gauss rifle to do 3-card bounty and then decided to keep it around.tactically its not a good gun.

But its a FUN gun.
