9 days ago my Dell Inspiron 7520 laptop quit turning the display off after the 10 minutes specified by my power plan (Balanced). I upgraded to Win 10 in December & this is the first time with this problem. I have attempted the following to remedy the situation: Removed the USB dongle for my wireless mouse & left it unplugged, cleaned the lens on the mouse & mousepad, used the Power troubleshooter @ Control Panel, set USB selective suspend setting @ Advanced Power Options to ‘disabled’, tried otherpower plans as well as tinkering with them, System Restore & pulled my hair out. Any thoughts? If that didn’t work, check the steps below to see if sharing media is preventing your PC to go into sleep:. Simultaneously press Windows button and X. Select Power Options.

The display goes to screensaver @ the time specified. But now a new problem has surfaced: I used to be able to wake from screensaver by moving the mouse or tapping any key.
Now the screen goes dark & the only way out(so far) is Ctrl Alt Delete then Cancel. That takes me back to whatever screen I was on. I have no Power Management tab when I go to the mouse @ Device Manager so I can't allow it to wake the computer. Also noticed the fan runs heavy while in screensaver.Any thoughts? The router caused my network adaptor to disable(among other malfunctions), even after 3 reinstalls. I was using an Ethernet cable from the router to my laptop for Internet during which time the screensaver was operational. I finally reinstalled my basic Belkin this AM so now I am wireless once againbut the screensaver no longer works.
I am afraid to experiment & use the Ethernet cable again to see if the screensaver will work as that caused me to lose the network adaptor previously with the new router. (All of this is waaay beyond my paygrade.) Iam returning the ASUS & I have a new router due here Tuesday. After I install it, I will apply all of your suggestions & get back to you.
Re: my Mice & Keyboards @ Device Manager - there are no Power Management tabs. Back again after successfully installing a new router. I have applied all of your suggested settings as well as I'm using a different USB-type mouse. I currently have no screensaver, the display never goes off. During the router install the screensaverwas working then after I totally finished it wasn't.
I even experimented going wired again with the Ethernet cable linking my laptop & router but had the same result. Re: the System cooling policy, mine is set to Active & the only other option is Passive.Is that what I want? Of course this part is all moot if I don't have a screensaver.
