What you do first is buy the attachment. These are the items like Telescopic Sight and Augmented Spin Barrel. These are easy to install (they don't require a check to install), and grant you everything listed in the 'Base Modifiers' section for said attachment. An 'Innate Talent (X)' attachment means that when the weapon is used, the user counts as having that talent for only that weapon. For example, Filed Front Sight grants the Innate Talent (Quick Draw), so when my character dual wields two blaster pistols, one with Filed Front Sight and one without, I must still spend one maneuver to draw the other blaster (still much better than havign to spend two maneuvers to draw both.).Then, you purchase modifications for an installed attachment.

These require a Hard Mechanics check to install (found on page 187 of EotE) and 100 credits. Success means you select one of the 'Modification Options' listed for that attachment. Failure means the mod (but not the attachment) is ruined. Failure with a Despair means the attachment is ruined as well. Each successive modification costs an additional 100 credits plus the base cost (the second costs 200c and the third 300c, for example) and increases the difficulty by one.Note that you have a limited number of any given modifications that can be made. For example, under Augmented Spin Barrel, there is '2 Damage +1 Mods'.

This means you can select the 'Damage +1' mod twice maximum for that attachment.Hope this helps!.
